What the line turned out to mean

one sat, many vāk

Reality is one. The ways of speaking it are many — and the many are not a failure of the one. They are what a single, inexhaustible object looks like when finite minds approach it from where they stand: from sound, from word, from time, from action, from story, from form, from number.

The last move

The landscape does not end in a conclusion. It ends in an inquiry — the same one it began with, now unavoidable: what is real, and by what could it be known? Every śāstra in this corpus is an answer to that question from one vantage, and the tradition’s own word for their difference is the promise that they need not cancel.
